Palliative Care in Low and Middle Income Countries and the Role of International Volunteering

This meeting took place on the 6th June 2018 and provided an opportunity to discussion palliative care in low and middle income countries and the role of international volunteering. The following presentations were given:

Partnering to achieve integrated palliative care; an essential component of #UHC

Dr Mhoira Leng, Head of Palliative Care in Makerere University, Uganda, and Medical Director of Cairdeas International Palliative Care Trust, Scotland.

First hand experiences of international volunteering and collaboration

Janice Logan, Lecturer in Palliative Care, St Columba’s Hospice, Edinburgh.

The value of international volunteering

Stuart Fergusson, Specialty Registrar General Surgery, and as RCPSG Clinical Leadership Fellow, author of Global Citizenship in the Scottish Health Service.

Presentations were followed by an opportunity for group discussion.
