Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Palliative Care

The Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care provides the secretariat for the Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Palliative Care.

The Cross Party Group provides an opportunity for MSPs from all parties, members of the public, and representatives from various organisations to meet and discuss a shared interest in palliative care.

All are welcome to join or attend meetings of the Cross Party Group. Cross Party Groups are regulated by Section 6 of the Code of Conduct for Members of the Scottish Parliament. For more information about Cross Party Groups, see the Scottish Parliament website.

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday 13 March at 5.45 pm, Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh.

Presentations and Discussion: Creating the conditions for delivering fair dementia care

The meeting will explore the key issues identified in Alzheimer Scotland’s recent report Delivering Care for People with Advanced Dementia, including the practicalities of defining and identifying people with Advanced Dementia; coordination of palliative and end of life care for people with advanced dementia; and whether their needs should be seen as health care needs rather than social care needs.

Cesar Rodriguez, Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist, Associate Medical Director, NHS Tayside and National Clinical Lead (Psychiatry) at Focus on Dementia, Healthcare Improvement Scotland
