Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Palliative Care

The Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care provides the secretariat for the Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Palliative Care.

The Cross Party Group provides an opportunity for MSPs from all parties, members of the public, and representatives from various organisations to meet and discuss a shared interest in palliative care.

All are welcome to join or attend meetings of the Cross Party Group. Cross Party Groups are regulated by Section 6 of the Code of Conduct for Members of the Scottish Parliament. For more information about Cross Party Groups, see the Scottish Parliament website.

Realising Realistic Medicine - Implications for palliative and end of life care

Dr Catherine Calderwood, CMO for Scotland, recently published her Annual Report for 2015/16, entitled Realising Realistic Medicine. This meeting provides an opportunity to explore the implications of this report for palliative and end of life care, with a series of short presentations looking at this from different perspectives:

Dr Paul Baughan, GP, Dollar Health Centre; Forth Valley Primary Care Lead - Cancer and Palliative Care; Macmillan GP Advisor (Scotland)

Sandra Campbell, Macmillan Nurse Consultant for Cancer & Palliative Care, Lead Cancer Team, NHS Forth Valley

Dr Juliet Spiller, Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Marie Curie Hospice Edinburgh

Dr Caroline Whitworth, Associate Medical Director for Surgery and Orthopaedics, Consultant Nephrologist, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

Presentations will be followed by an opportunity for group discussion.
