Shaping the future direction of palliative and end of life care in Scotland

The SPPC is currently seeking views, feedback and comments on a draft position paper which sets out the major issues affecting care and support of people living with serious illness, dying and bereavement in Scotland.

Every Story's Ending: Proposals to improve people's experiences of living with serious illness, death, dying and bereavement in Scotland proposes a practical agenda for progress over the next 3-10 years.

Every Story's Ending had been developed by the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care (SPPC) in collaboration with those working in hospitals, hospices, communities, policy, with those responsible for planning and managing services, and with professional bodies and academia.

The draft document is designed to support and influence improvements to palliative and end of life care in the coming years, and Scottish Government is supportive of this process:

“We welcome the work SPPC is doing to capture and articulate stakeholders’ views on future priorities for palliative care. We look forward to reading the final version of the paper which SPPC is now consulting on. We expect the paper will be very valuable as the future direction for palliative care in Scotland is developed.”

Helen Stevens, Scottish Government.
