St Columba's Hospice, Edinburgh

Inpatient, day therapy and home care services for people across Edinburgh and the Lothians diagnosed with a terminal illness and their families. Patients have a range of illnesses including cancer, neurological conditions, heart and respiratory conditions and many other complex progressive conditions. In addition, the Hospice's Centre for Education and Research offers a wide range of educational opportunites for students and health care professionals. Bereavement services are also available. Services can be accessed by referral from GPs, hospital consultants or district nurses. The Hospice is an independent charity and all care is provided free of charge to service users.

Services

  • Volunteers - service involving volunteers in addition to paid staff
  • Multi-disciplinary support team who cover counselling, physiotherapy, chaplaincy, occupational therapy, social work and complementary therapy
  • Other life-limiting illness - service also caring for patients with life limiting illnesses other than cancer.
