Palliative Care in Prisons Conference

10 September 2018, Edinburgh

The Scottish Government Strategic Framework for Action on Palliative and End of Life care shares a vision that by 2021 everyone who can benefit from palliative care in Scotland will receive it – no matter what their circumstances.

Scottish prisons have an increasing ageing population which means there are more people who will be facing end of life in prison. A recent report published by the Prison Inspectorate discussed the lived experience of older prisoners in Scotland’s prisons, highlighting the increasing challenges of caring for this group of people.

This free event will bring people together to discuss palliative care in Scotland’s prisons and highlight the work that is currently being undertaken. It is a great opportunity to learn how we can all work together to improve palliative and end of life care in Scotland’s prisons.

This event is funded by Macmillan (as part of a wider programme of work in prisons) and supported by the Scottish Prison Service, NHS Scotland and the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care. To book a place, please contact Gail Allan.
