Public and Patient Perspectives

Survey - Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in palliative care for heart failure

Harley Anderson, a PhD Student at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), is undertaking a national survey to understand what patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are used in patients with heart failure and a palliative care diagnosis, including any barriers and facilitators to their use in routine practice. PROMs are questionnaires that ask patients about their needs, symptoms, or ability to do certain tasks that are related to their condition.

If you are a healthcare professional who cares for patients with heart failure and a palliative care diagnosis in the UK, consider taking 5-10 minutes to complete this online survey, and sharing with your networks. Complete the survey here: https://tinyurl.com/42dkj8er

You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience of PROMs to take part in the survey. The survey will close on Sunday 27th August. This survey is part of a research project which aims to develop a set of recommendations on the choice, administration, and use of PROMs in palliative care for heart failure. If you have any questions, please contact harley.anderson@uwe.ac.uk

The Group will explore how the new strategy can support communities to gain knowledge, skills, confidence and opportunities to plan ahead, and to give and receive support relating to serious illness, dying, death and bereavement.

The members of the Development Group are keen to hear the insights of people who are already involved in work in this area in Scotland, either in a professional or personal capacity. We would grateful if you could take a few minutes to tell us what you think via the survey here.

  • What were your experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic?
  • What impact did these experiences have on you or people you know?
  • What lessons do you think should be learned from your experiences?

SPPC is interested in your response to these questions to guide and inform a collective submission. Responses can be sent to mark@palliativecarescotland.org.uk . Responses to SPPC will be treated as confidential.
