Aim of the survey

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this survey by Hospice UK.

This survey is asking for your views on the contribution and future role of hospice care in Scotland. We want to know how the hospice care sector is adapting and changing to meet Scotland’s growing palliative care need – and what support the sector needs going forward.

Who should complete this survey?

We welcome responses from hospice staff and trustees, staff providing palliative and end of life care in other settings, and those involved in research and strategic planning of palliative and end of life care in Scotland.

The survey is primarily focused on the role of charitable hospices in Scotland and how they work in partnership with other providers. Therefore, in the survey we define hospice care as all aspects of care and support delivered by charitable hospices. However we are also keen to hear from and learn from those working in NHS hospices and specialist palliative care units, and those working across acute, community and social care settings.

How we will use your feedback

The findings from the survey will inform a joint report by Hospice UK and the Scottish Hospice Leadership Group on the contribution and future role of hospice care in Scotland, to be published in early 2021.

The project is aligned with wider work being carried out across the sector by the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care on the priorities and developments needed to improve death, dying and bereavement in Scotland over the next 10 years.

Feedback from the survey will also help inform Hospice UK’s ongoing policy and advocacy work to improve how we meet the needs of people with terminal and life-limiting conditions in Scotland.
