About

Death on the Fringe is a listing of shows and events looking at death and dying taking place during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each year.

Some events are serious, some are comical – but they all make you think about what it means to live well and die well.

Death on the Fringe is put together by Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief, a group of organisations working to make Scotland a place where everyone can help when someone is caring, dying or grieving.

We believe that currently in Scotland, various problems are caused because:

We believe that many of these problems can be solved by raising public awareness of ways of dealing with death, dying and bereavement and promoting community involvement in death, dying and bereavement.

Since the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, there seems no better time or place to do that. As well as publishing a listing of shows, from 2014 to 2019 Death on the Fringe also hosted a showcase event, welcoming guests and performers including Dr. Phil Hammond, Dr. Kathryn Mannix, Jack Rooke and Milly Thomas.

Following a break due to the pandemic, in 2023, we are pleased to be able to promote this list of death-related shows list, and we are working toward a full relaunch in 2024.
