Marie Curie, NHS Lothian and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to provide specialist Palliative care services for patients over 16 years old with any advanced, progressive and incurable illness and support for their families
The West Lothian Palliative Care Service offers a range of services to provide patients and their carers with specialist support and advice - whether in St Johns Hospital or in their own home, in a community hospital or in a care home.
Any health or social care professionals can refer patients in an advanced, progessive and incurable illness for assessment and advice on : uncontrolled pain or other symptons, complex end of life care needs, complex physical psycological, spiritual or family needs OR advanced care planning, including place of care and death. Patients can also self-refer
How can we help
The West Lothian Palliative Care Service is provided by teams of Specialist nurses based in St Johns Hospital. They are supported by a consultant in palliative medicine and a team of health and social care professionals including a social worker, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, pharmacist, chaplin, complementary therapists,Macmillan benefits advisor and volunteers
We provide a range of services including community palliative care team, day therapies, out patients appointments.
Referrals can be made by any health or social care professional
