Anthology of writing by Scottish young people

From June - November 2015 young people from across Scotland worked with the RSNO Learning and Engagement Team to create original stories and compositions that breathe new life into old memories.

In this project anthology, you’ll find stories and poems inspired by personal experience of loss, as well as stories shared by local care home residents, of their ‘absent friends’ – loved ones who are dead, but whose stories live on. All the stories were written by young people aged 11—16 years, in collaboration with writers and musicians.

The stories, poems and original musical compositions were performed by the young people alongside RSNO musicians at a launch concert for the To Absent Friends Festival 2015, on 29 October, at the new RSNO Centre within the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

This work was an initiative of the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care, Good Life, Good Death Good Grief, and the RSNO, and was made possible by a Community Grant from the Royal Bank of Scotland. Huge thanks to everyone involved.
