We Remember Them Well

In the company of musicians and writers, a chance to hear and share memories of departed friends, from Leith and beyond, and add a personal tribute, if you like. With live music, refreshments and memorabilia.

Participants include Millie Gray, Laure Paterson and John Lamb.

Millie Gray is a writer, professional storyteller and 'Arts Champion for Older People in Scotland'.Born in Leith, she has drawn on her vivid childhood memories in all of her six popular novels. Her seventh, 'Silver Linings', is launched on 29th Oct at 6pm in Waterstones Ocean Terminal.

Laure Paterson is a professional musician and playwright. She scripted Citadel Arts Group's successful plays 'Leith's Hidden Treasure' (a tribute to the old hospital) and 'Leith at War' based on living memories of Leith during World War II. As a fiddle player Laure is much in demand on the ceilidh scene.

John Lamb is a singer/songwriter of many years' experience and a member of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) Playwrights Workshop. He scripted part of the joint WEA/Citadel Arts Group play project, 'When the War Came Home', about the impact of World War I on Leith and Edinburgh.

Other contributors include members of the WEA Playwrights Workshop, Elaine Campbell and Alan Mountford.

Citadel Arts Group is a Leith-based charity devoted to expressing the creativity of older people through living memory projects and play development. Under Artistic Director Liz Hare they have presented Leith-based plays at the past six Leith Festivals. Their work with older people In Leith and Midlothian involving school children has been recognised by awards for Age Scotland in 2013 and 2014.
